Company
Profile
The concept of the Hatchbag bootliner dates back to 1980. Steve Campbell our
M.D. broke a bag of cement in the back of his car, and discovered that cement
didn’t come out very well. The advent of Hatchback cars led him to realise
that there was a new market for protecting the boot areas of these and Estate
cars. The first liner (for a Mk1 VW Polo was made on his wife’s sewing
machine and the HATCHBAG was invented!!
A business plan was put together and early manufacturing was arranged using
an existing manufacturing company. By 1984 we began manufacturing ourselves,
with 3 staff and around 20 templates. Vauxhall, Renault, Ford and Landrover
were all early customers and we expanded into new premises by 1989. Investment
in new technology has taken place throughout the lifecycle of the Hatchbag
and we now have the most advanced equipment available to design and produce
our ever increasing range of products.
Slip over and fully tailored seat covers are becoming more and more popular
and our design team is kept fully occupied keeping up with new ideas and new
models.
We have the largest range of current and old model patterns that you could
possibly imagine and we aim to introduce around 2 new models per week, so we
should always be able to assist customers with their needs, and if we can’t,
or we don’t have the pattern – we will tell you.
Being the original
developers of the Bootliner, we promise to offer help, service
and value, so we can continue to grow for at least another
20 years.
The
Team
Stephen Campbell
is still the Managing Director, and is assisted in the Office
by Jane, Mike, and Pam. The Design team is led by Sarah.
Manufacturing is now done in a friendly team work environment,
with over 20 staff producing goods for both our mail order
and trade markets.
The
Future
Continued growth
means that we are likely to outgrow our current premises
and we propabaly need to look for new bespoke premises.
We expect to introduce a range of marine related products, utilising the CAD/CAM
equipment, starting with dry suits and life preservors and we expect to see
manufacturers changing their model ranges even quicker than they do now .Its
certainly an exciting time ahead, one we look forward to with confidence and
commitment. |
